THX Ultra2 System

Few companies can claim the experience in theatrical sound Klipsch
can. Klipsch speakers are used all over the world in commercial theaters and
Klipsch have had a long running relationship with THX. Now Klipsch has introduced
what is, for them, the ultimate in home cinema loudspeaker systems...the new
THX Ultra2 package. The new system is a big step up in performance for this
category. Klipsch is a major supplier of professional stage and cinema loudspeakers
and by leveraging their expertise in that sphere with their experience in home
speakers, they have endeavoured to create real theater sound in customers' homes.
At the same time, they wanted the system to be easy to install and set up in
almost any room. No other speakers designed for custom installation offer such
a combination of flexibility, reliability, and sound quality.
There are two main monitors...
KL-650 and KL-525 Main LCR Monitors.

The KL-650 (shown above) is the larger of the two LCR speakers
in the Ultra2 family.

The KL-650 features a front-firing port for low bass extension,
dual 6.5-inch Cerametallic™ woofers and a new 6- by 10-inch Tractrix® Horn Tweeter.
The tweeter driver is a 1-inch titanium-dome compression unit designed specifically
for use with horns to provide high output with low distortion.
The KL-525 (shown below) is the smaller of the two LCR speakers
in the Ultra2 family.

The highly efficient KL-525-THX features a sealed enclosure,
top-of-the-line internal wiring, dual 5.25-inch Cerametallic™ woofers and a
1-inch titanium diaphragm compression driver coupled to a 6- by 10-inch Tractrix®
Horn. The KL-525 is also ideal as the rear and center surround in a full 7.1
system.
Both speakers use an identical horn driver which is a direct
transfer from the professional cinema products. The horn is responsible for
the high efficiency Klipsch speakers are known for and also controls the directivity
of the tweeter's output. Controlled directivity minimizes floor, wall, and ceiling
reflections that can muddy the sound and impair imaging. Tractrix Horns enable
the front speakers to meet THX® directivity specifications without the interference
and lobing effects that plague the multiple-tweeter arrays commonly used for
this purpose. The left and right front speakers are a mirror-image pair, with
their tweeters on baffles angled slightly in toward the listening area for optimum
high-frequency distribution; the center speaker has a flat baffle. At the bottom
end, rigid, lightweight Cerametallic cones and heavy magnets give the dual woofers
high efficiency and output capability together with excellent immunity to breakup
and distortion. The LCR speakers operate in a 2.5-way configuration, with one
woofer working through the entire bass and midrange up to the tweeter crossover.
The other woofer is crossed over much lower, so that it functions strictly as
a bass driver. This arrangement provides high bass output capability without
interference between the two drivers in the midrange. Which monitor will work
best is a function of the room size and output needs. A smaller space will be
well served by three KL-525 monitors across the front where as a larger space
is better served by three KL-650's. The KL-650 with its' larger ported enclosure
and bigger woofers has a bigger, fatter sound with more bass extension. The
KL-525 has a tigher, faster bass because of it's sealed enclosure.
The KS-525 THX Ultra2 Di-pole surround.
Soundscape Price: Call

The KS-525-THX produces a smooth, seamless, broad distribution
of sound by employing a pair of 5.25-inch Cerametallic™ woofers and dual 5-inch
square Tractrix® Horn tweeters in a Wide Dispersion Surround Technology array.
WDST is the industry's no-compromise approach to surround speaker design because
it offers both rich, immersion surround sound and precise localization of individual
effects from a speaker that has much more placement flexibility than conventional
designs. The KS-525 is recommended for use in systems as a side surround or
in rooms where close rear wall seating prevents rear monopole placement.
The KW-120 and KA-1000THX Subwoofer System.

The KW-120 Soundscape Price: Call

KA-1000THXSoundscape Price: Call
To achieve the very high deep-bass output in large rooms that
is required for THX Ultra2 certification, this system has two compact, high-performance
subwoofers with 12-inch, long-throw Cerametallic drivers. These twin, decor-friendly
subwoofers deliver the low-frequency capability of a single, much bulkier sub
while greatly increasing placement flexibility. The subwoofers are driven by
an external 1-kilowatt amplifier tailored to their characteristics for maximum
undistorted output and reliability. The amplifier, which can be conveniently
located near the rest of the installation's electronics, has a built-in, switchable
low-pass crossover and a room-gain compensation switch. The Construction All
enclosures have the dado "lock-joint" and rabbet construction used in Klipsch
professional speakers, ensuring cabinet integrity in suspended applications.
Omni-Mount suspension points on the LCR and surround speakers facilitate wall
or ceiling mounting using standard hardware. The surround speakers come in a
textured black finish. The LCR speakers and subwoofers are available in that
finish or a distinctive metallic silver gloss.

Klipsch Files Lawsuit Against Multiple Internet Sales Violators
INDIANAPOLIS (January 5, 2004) -- Klipsch Audio Technologies, a leading manufacturer
of loudspeakers, today announced it has filed suit in the U.S. District Court
for the Southern District of Indiana against companies operating the following
internet sites: crazyeddie.com, 50TopSellers.com, AuthorizedElectronics.com,
TheBestPriceStore.com, and HomeTheaterPhiles.com. Klipsch is seeking recovery
of damages as well as an injunction to prevent the defendants from inducing
authorized dealers to transship Klipsch products, interfering with the contractual
relationships between Klipsch and its authorized dealers, infringing on Klipsch
trademarks, illegally using Klipsch's copyrighted materials, and otherwise competing
unfairly with Klipsch. "The unscrupulous procurement, promotion and sale of
Klipsch-branded loudspeakers by unauthorized resellers will not be tolerated
and we will exhaust every legal avenue to expose their corrupt business practices,"
said Mike Klipsch, Klipsch's executive vice president and chief operating officer.
"These free-riders are capitalizing on the hard work and substantial investment
that Klipsch and its authorized dealers have made in the promotion of the Klipsch
brand identity. We simply will not allow them to hide behind e-mail addresses
and damage the quality, integrity and value of the authorized Klipsch dealer
network." Mike Klipsch alleged that all of the defendants remove the official
Klipsch serial number labels from the products and have gone as far as to attach
counterfeit labels. "One purpose of the serial number labels is to give consumers
confidence that they are purchasing an authentic Klipsch product with full manufacturer's
warranty," Klipsch said. "Clearly, the extreme measures taken by the defendants
highlights their intent to deceive unsuspecting consumers and capitalize illegally
on the Klipsch image. We intend to shine a bright light on these activities
and stop them." Mike Klipsch said all of these violators illegally use Klipsch's
trademarks and copyrighted materials -- critical pieces of the positive image
Klipsch has projected since 1946. He said the Klipsch brand is registered in
over 30 countries and that the Indianapolis-based company would not permit these
relative newcomers to damage the global brand image Klipsch has spent 60 years
building. Citing a zero tolerance policy for transshipping as grounds, Klipsch
has terminated relationships with 16 of its authorized dealers to date, totaling
more $5 million in revenue. According to Klipsch's new president, Paul Jacobs,
Klipsch has no problem giving up millions more in revenue if that's what it
takes to stop the transshipping. "We will aggressively protect our brand and
tirelessly pursue anyone who engages in activities that diminish the Klipsch
brand integrity. The buying experience, product quality, customer and technical
services and warranty promise are essential to Klipsch's premium reputation.
Klipsch and only Klipsch will choose to whom we distribute our products. Dealers
who violate our agreements will continue to be terminated and we will begin
meeting these unauthorized resellers in court." Klipsch has also retained the
services of NetEnforcers.com, a brand protection company that assists Klipsch
with shutting down auctions by unauthorized dealers using third party web sites
such as Ebay and Yahoo. Klipsch officials said NetEnforcers.com has the bandwidth
to continuously and tirelessly investigate Internet sales violations, file the
appropriate paperwork with the third party web sites, and remove illegal auctions
the same day they are found. Klipsch Audio Technologies is a privately held
global corporation with worldwide headquarters in Indianapolis, manufacturing
facilities in Hope, Arkansas, and wholly-owned subsidiary Klipsch Europe BV
in the Netherlands. Klipsch manufactures premium home, commercial, professional
cinema, and multimedia loudspeakers under the Klipsch brand name, and high-end
amplifiers, preamplifiers, and processors under the Aragon brand name. (30)
